I thought the goal for the splash pad was reached and that it is being built this summer. Why are you still raising money?
You are partially correct. We SURPASSED our goal and raised $52,000 and the Rotary Splash Pad will be open for play early summer 2013! We now have an opportunity to access the community assistance fund by contributing a minimum of 15% for another project within the park. And I mean, who didn't LOVE Movie Nights In The Park? Of course we had to have a few more this year even if just to celebrate the great neighbourhood (and beyond) community spirit!
A BIG thank you to:
Rotary Club of Peterborough Kawartha
Farm Credit Canada
Peterborough Foundation
Siemens Milltronics Inc.
Steve's Quik Chek
Royal Homes
Metercor
Bank of Montreal
Scott's Plains Kiwanis
...and all the amazing people who donated in person, on-line or by attending one of our many events. We couldn't have done it without you!
When should we arrive?
"Doors" open just before 7:00 p.m. each night to allow you to get settled, buy snacks and to enjoy the pre-show.
What about the bugs?
Last year the bugs were not too bad. The movie nights were at the end of August and during September. They would make an appearance at dusk but then they went away! Our movie nights will be ongoing from June to August this year so there may be nights when they are more about and likely some where they are hardly noticeable. Dressing to cover exposed skin would be ideal.
What should I bring?
While you are welcome to use the picnic tables around the perimeter for seating you are also welcome to bring your own blankets and camp chairs too! Some parents brought their bike trailers last year and the kids stayed cozy in there (warm, dry and bug-free)! We accept cash and cheques (payable to Nicholls Oval Splash Pad Fund) at the park. Smaller bills are always appreciated - as are coins!
Will the washrooms be open?
Absolutely! They are only a short walk from where the movies will be shown.
I can't make it to the movie nights but I would like to support the next project. How can I help?
Great question! Email [email protected] to arrange to drop off or mail a donation. Please make cheques payable to Nicholls Oval Splash Pad Fund. And remember, donations of $10 or greater qualify for a City issued tax receipt! Another way to help is to volunteer. We are a very *small* group of volunteers and can always use an extra set of hands - no experience necessary!
